LINCOLN -- A bill to expand Medicaid has been pulled from the legislative agenda after backers were unable to muster up enough votes to end a filibuster

State Sen Kathy Campbell of Lincoln, the chief sponsor of the bill, said backers will talk with other senators in hopes of finding a compromise.

"If I feel any sense of failure here, it is to the people who would qualify for this," she said.

Sen. Ken Schilz of Ogallala said he did not know if there is enough time in the session to debate the issue again.
