Big Media as a news source is risking becoming obsolete.

It is the routine now, following major news events, that the big media outlets get it wrong. They have forgone actual journalism and replaced it with retweets.

I don't blame twitter or social media. It serves it's function and does it well, providing the world with real-time coverage. But, when the big media outlets jump in and report as news whatever was just tweeted. That, until recently, would legitimize the breaking story. Now we see how often they don't do their jobs. Seeking to be first (or near the front) rather than be accurate, their credibility is in shambles.

Big media hasn't yet learned its role in the age of social media. It is time it wake up to the new reality.
