The Prayin Coach At City Council Last Night

At last nights City Council meeting the council was reading a proclamation declaring May 2nd National Day of prayer in our city.

One of the citys note worthy citizens was there to accept it and during his speech of thanks to the council he said in effect out of order that he would like to introduce a measure to open each meeting with PRAYER.... I rolled my eyes.

As the gentleman left the chambers I got up and met him in the hallway and asked him if he was going to include Buddhist, Hindus, ect in his measure. Why no sir he said, I said why not? because they are not Christian. I then asked him if the community was made up of only Christians, NO, he said. I asked then why Jesus was the only prayer that could be prayed, he said cause he is the Son of the High God he said.

I said go ahead and propose it and I will propose a counter ordinance and the fight will begin. I said instead of focusing on prayer in city hall why not focus on children in our schools that are not getting the best education and put the heat on the council that shakes their heads collectively to anything put in front of them.

Empty Eyes was what I saw.

I would get up there and say a prayer to Thoth or something. Even though I'm not a believer in Thoth. Just to hear all their heads go pffffft. And then I'd say, well, the law says it's okay!
