Everyone. Right now . Please email your senators. Post the replies.

If your senators voted against expanding background checks, email them right now.
It only takes a few minutes.
Just google the name and you'll find their website.

Don't be confrontational.
Here's what I said:

"Please explain why you voted against background checks for purchasers at gun shows.
Thank you"

Then...share their replies with us here.

And one made the trip to Washington (he's been out due to health issues) just for today's vote. This is one issue I don't have to worry about with them.

Post their replies here.
And take them apart.
Rebut them.
And then send that correspondence to your state's major newspaper and TV stations.

This is the home of Gov. Goodhair, Loony Louie, Smokey Joe Barton, Abbott, and the aforementioned idiots.

And don't even get me started on the clowns in the Lege-some of whom make Rick Perry look like a rocket scientist.

have voted yes on the expansion - they are both from CO, the site of many gun tragedies. Enough that made me alter my views on guns in general.

and this was the well thought out version-not what I felt like REALLY saying!

"Your vote today just proves to Ohio and the American people that congress no longer represents the people that voted them into office. You, and the rest of your fellow congressmen, have forgotten your purpose. Your vote today makes a strong statement that you are IN FAVOR of actions like Aurora, and Newtown. I hope the lobbyist money that you have been paid help you sleep at night."

at this point I DON'T CARE about the republican side of the story anymore.
Rob Portman is just a greedy republican F*** that can rot in hell

Not as nice as you suggested.

Subject Line - Shame on your vote today.

"There is only ONE reason for your vote against increasing gun safety measures in order to support a "well regulated militia."

That reason is to amass more MONEY from the NRA and their ilk. You can't possibly be afraid of a primary this far away from 2016, or a primary by one MORE conservative than you in Wisconsin.

You COULD have taken advantage of that time gap and done the RIGHT thing.

But you didn't. SHAME on you."
