Suspicious package closes Milwaukee bridge

MILWAUKEE —Milwaukee Police have confirmed that a bridge near downtown has been closed because of a suspicious package.

RELATED

A department representative said they received a call just after 1 p.m. of a suspicious package located at 16th and Pierce streets.

Several streets surrounding that intersection have been closed as a precaution.

Copy-cats? Pranksters? Paranoia?

Update: reopened. Authorities have not yet commented on the investigation or what was found in the package.

I guess we're seeing a lot of this...

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's feed is standard stuff.

I suspect it'll turn out to be nothing.

Just about anything looks like a suspicious package if you're looking for suspicious packages. Abundance of caution time.

This does not mean that there is a bomb, however. The likelihood is that there is not.

you'd be surprised how many trash bags and cardboard boxes litter the road. It's probably something that fell off the back of a truck.

As has been said by others, everyone is on high-alert and I am confident it'll turn out to be nothing. I get the 'better safe than sorry' state we're all in right now.
