If it is Al Qaeda, why aren’t they claiming responsibility?

Isn’t that their history?? Isn’t that the purpose to gain world attention so they can spout their reasons for hatred and terror??

It’s fucking amazing how many times I have heard in the past 48, the groups" foreign terrorists
Al Qaeda, Taliban, foreign nationalist” being used by the media and by republican politicians..

How many times have we heard “Oklahoma City”, “Atlanta Olympic bomber”, “Physicians being murdered
by religious extremists”, invoked by the MSM?........ Funny how these aforementioned murderer’s never came out to the media with their political agendas...rather they hid like cowards! Just as the perpetrators of yesterday’s atrocities are doing right now!

1. I doubt that this was authorized by Al Qaeda or any other large terrorist group

But it could have been a lone wolf who sympathized with the Taliban or Al Qaeda. Then again it could be a home grown right wing extremist either operating on his own or as part of the extremist group. Right now it seems the investigation is all over the map.

2. The death toll wasn't high. Maybe whoever it was didn't want to attach their name

to such a lame terrorism effort. That, or it was a domestic lone-wackjob who enjoys this stuff but doesn't want to go to jail.

Nice way to write off three dead and 176 wounded.

Too bad they can't all be the World Trade Center, huh?

5. This was a pretty incompetent attack. Not very sophisticated. I doubt a large

foreign organization would claim responsibility. Probably a sympathizer/lone actor, or a couple of guys. I didn't write anyone off. I'm also not going to elevate the terrorists' "work".

It's generated a huge amount of media coverage and created a feeling of vulnerability and insecurity for millions. It's going to result in further restrictions on our liberties (I saw a post today suggesting backpacks be restricted) for 'safety and security' reasons. This should be *any* terrorist organization's wet dream. So I agree with the OP that it's very strange that no one has taken credit for it. But to call this attack incompetent is just incorrect.

tighter security/less personal belongings at events in the future, but so far no one is overreacting. There have been bombs at American events before (Atlanta), this isn't new.
