Would a Spectrometer camera satisfy privacy concerns in public places?

I remember seeing this and thinking the application for surveillance would be useful. Basically, structure the cameras to capture the spectrum's that have explosives. So instead of having cameras that show what people are doing, it will show what they are carrying around that would be dangerous.

Yes, sorry, but I imagine it could be used for finding contraband as well. What are the limits of technology vs. freedom. Probably a dead thread thanks to gratuitous nudity interrupter, but oh well....
