U.S. terrorism type events week of April 15th - 20 - historical perspective

Just off the top ofmy headand with minimal research:

4/15/1865. President Lincoln dies after being shot by confederate sympathizer john wilkes booth.

4/19/1993 final day of waco seige on branch davidian complex by FBI and ATF. 76 branch davidians died and 4 FBI agents died. It is believed that cult leader david koresh kept his followers from leaving the compound and there were signs of cyanide poisoning among the victims found. Federal agents were able to free 35 of koresh's followers.

4/20/1995 Anti-government and American militia movement member, Timothy Mcveigh bombs Oklahoma City Federal Building in response to the Waco seige and Ruby Ridge incident from 1992. 168 were murdered and over 600 injured.

4/20/1999. Eric harris and dylan klybold murdered 12 students and one teacher and injured 21 additional students at Columbine High School in Colorado. The journals of the two perpetrators included references to the Oklahoma City bombing and wanting to do as much damage. They used guns but also rigged 99 explosive devices including car bombs and a fire bomb.

4/16/2007, Patriots Day - seung hui cho used hand guns to murder 32 people and wound 17 others at Virginia tech. Cho was suspected of being the source of bomb threats prior to the massacre. Former schoolmates of cho's commented on his fascination with the columbine massacre.

4/15/2013, Patriots Day, 2 bombs explode at the finish line of the Boston Marathon killing 2 and wounding over 100. It is considered a terrorist attack and no suspect has been identified as the investigation is currently under way.
