Alice Walton was arrested Friday night in Texas for driving while intoxicated on Interstate 20 in Weatherford, Texas, west of Fort Worth. Friday was her 62nd birthday. She was released on a $1,000 bond.

She was convicted in a DWI case in Springdale in 1998. She was involved in a fatal accident in 1989, but no charges were filed.

Walton has been involved in at least three automobile accidents. During a 1983 Thanksgiving family reunion near Acapulco, Mexico, Walton lost control of a rented Jeep and plunged into a ravine, shattering her leg. She would undergo more than two dozen surgeries and is said to suffer lingering pain from her injuries. In an April 1989 incident, she struck and killed 50-year-old Oleta Hardin, who had stepped into a road. No charges were filed.[13] In a 1998 incident, she is reported to have hit a gas meter while driving under the influence. She paid a $925 fine and served no jail time.[14]

On October 7, 2011, her 62nd birthday, she was again arrested for driving while intoxicated in Weatherford, Texas, after a dinner with friends in Fort Worth. Walton's attorney released a statement acknowledging the incident and expressing regret.[15][16]

Walton is divorced, having been married briefly in her 20s.[2][7]

She could even have a well stocked bar in the back seat with her. She could have a bartender in each car mixing her drinks for her.

Alice Walton is one despicable human being.

And her museum in Bentonville, Crystal Bridges.

It was truly sickening. "To them who much is given, much is asked" blah blah blah.....how wonderful she is to start this museum.

6. END corporate welfare!

At one time we would let companies fight to survive in the market. A healthy market has new and innovative corporations rising up to take the place of stagnant mega-conglomerates that actually do more harm then help at a national level. This 'too big to fail' crap should be illegal.

Walmart is an extremely good example of a company that should be left to rot if the market so demands.

Unfortunately there was never a time in this country when companies were left to the market forces. Our entire history since shortly after founding our government has been a sordid string of insiders gaining preferential treatment by buying government in order to steal from people. Slavery, the railroads, oil, mining, conscription, segregation, gerrymandering, election fraud, allowing outright treason to go unanswered, anti-labor laws, the entire history of the financial industry, technology and scientific research, you name it, it has been stolen from someone else.

Insider trading, the revolving door, industry regulators coming from and going into the industries they regulate.

We need drastic, fundamental changes if we are to ever realize the awesome potential of this nation.
