Obama Proposal To Sell TVA Blasted By Republicans

I'm trying really hard not to criticize this President but sometimes it's like he has no sense of history?

Selling the U.S-owned power company could reduce the federal deficit by at least $25 billion and "help put the nation on a sustainable fiscal path," Obama says in a budget document.

Not so fast, say GOP lawmakers in the region.

"It's one more bad idea in a budget full of bad ideas," said Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., a longtime TVA champion.

"There is no assurance that selling TVA to a profit-making entity would reduce electric bills in the Tennessee Valley, and it could lead to higher electricity rates" for customers in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, Alexander said.

So, austerity comes to America, just not named austerity.
Selling off public, taxpaid facilities, trying to cut Soc. Sec., yet somehow find the money for the Pentagon and for 230 million for Israel's Iron Dome.
Yep, gotta protect that oil stuff, at any cost.

The two parties take turns implementing the corporate agenda. They can always count on at least half of us to enable the pillaging, when it's our side doing it.

Had enough yet, America?

The privatization/austerity being sold to us as "deficit reduction" is a bunch of 1%er lies and thievery. Keep up the good work, REC'D!
