(11,700 posts)A majority of people are infected with mind viruses, fear, fear of the other, fear of loss, retribution or revenge, hatred of those who are different, greed...perpetuated by polarity politics, races and religions. These viruses feed off of the negativity of these things thus keeping their food supply intact. One solution is realizing that we all come from the same source in the universe and made up of the same structure of matter. The power of Love versus the Love of power.
My opinion.

Well said! You have a large and loving heart.
I would have written, "We are all children of the universe," but that is the merest semantic quibble.
I see that you only have seven posts so far. No matter; we all have to start somewhere! Please keep writing and posting.
I do believe, along with you, that many evils of the world are indeed a matter of primitivist, xenophobic tribal instincts triumphing over an educated, spiritually-enlightened consciousness.
Nice to find you amongst that latter group of people!

(3,229 posts)loving little boy, who even at this young age, got it. The world needs little boys like Martin, to grow up into the next generation of adults, who will try to make this world a better place. I'm saddened that he will never get that chance, and I am angered to my very core, at the person or persons, who thought that this action would lead to anything other than the killing of innocent people. He, or she, or it,.......or what ever cowardly group(if that should come to light), committed this atrocious act of violence for what? What did they think it would get them other than innocent dead people, a constant news cycle of blathering idiots, repeating themselves over and over again, while looping over and over again the same sick video of a cowards dastardly deed, and lastly, many shocked, disgusted and angry people all over the world. Did they think we would all cower in fear? I for one will say, that all this cowardly act of murder did in my case, was to further stiffen my resolve to get involved, watch more closely my surroundings, report anything that doesn't look or feel right to the proper authorities, and do everything I can, to create an environment where we don't live in fear, but rather, we take a powerful stand against that which we know to be wrong, and for what we know to be right. Every time these cowards act out in violence in an attempt to leave us in a state of fear or terror, I will become even more resolved to fight back and dig in even deeper, to fight their hate, their bigotry, their racism and their violent attempts to force their beliefs, their religion or their sick politics upon us. For every person killed in these cowardly acts of violence (especially the young ones), who will never, in person, be a voice for change.....we must become their voices and work even harder in their memories, to come together and do our best to fight those who not only commit these senseless acts of violence, but also fight against those who we all know, on a daily basis, incite it. I think Glenn Beck made a comment about "his or their crazies, go after the government," or spewed some stupid crap like that. That's the kind of sick thinking we are up against in this battle to stop, people like Beck, who with their words sometimes incite "their crazies," into cowardly and violent action..........and for what? Did this act of senseless violence accomplish anything? Did it change anyones mind on where they stood on any of the issues before the cowardly act? Did anyone of us stop for one moment and think, Oh wow! when they find out who did this, I'm sure gonna look more seriously at their points of view and find a way to work with them so they won't do this anymore. No, not one sane person (I believe), would have had that thought. I just had to vent, we must find a way to work together to stop this insanity so that the Martins of the world have a chance to become adults so that their input and ideas might help to transform the direction that America takes into a future of what's possible rather than a future of what is not.

(20,219 posts)I am determined to practice Peace. For me, that means many things; one thing is to react kindly, or as Shakyamuni Buddha said metaphorically, "Don the cloak of forbearance."
That's what we can do in response, as the most important first step. Just each individual person, try to treat someone else Peacefully.
Enough tragedy, already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
