Chaos reigns

Seeing the carnage at the Boston Marathon. Knowing that every day the same thing happens in other places on Earth. That we perpetuate the same kind of violence in other countries.

I am at once overcome with grief for the victims of these attacks and acutely aware of the fact I see news stories of bombings in places like Afghanistan and feel absolutely nothing.

Right now I feel a great sadness from no particular location in my being. It's existential and disturbing. And it's something I should feel more often because the reality is people die like this every day and we do nothing.

There is no uplifting end to this post. I'm not sure how to address the immensity of this situation; of all the situations just like this.
