"Is anyone else sick of this sh-?"

Craig Ferguson eschewed his traditional opening yuks on tonight’s edition of The Late Late Show by addressing the bomb blasts in Boston — a city to which he has “a personal connection.”

According to a transcript released early, Ferguson began his monologue by saying how tonight’s show was going to be a little bit different. “Obviously the news of today is so horrendous that it would seem insensitive at best to say ‘It’s a great day for America,’ so I won’t be starting the show with that tonight.” he said. “Is anyone else sick of this sh**? I seem to have to say that too often.

“People say to me ‘Craig, your job is to make people laugh at the end of the day.’ And I think, yes, that’s true, but I’ve never professed to be any damn good at that. And, the thing is, people want their mind taken off it. And I think, well ok, if you want your mind taken off it, you know, watch a cartoon or a video or something. I understand it, it’s perfectly acceptable. I don’t think it’s a terrible thing to not want to think about it, but I can’t not think about it.

“Also, I have a personal connection with the city of Boston. I have some history there. I have family there. When I became an American citizen in 2008, I spoke at Faneuil Hall on July 4, at the invitation of Tommy Menino who is the mayor of Boston, and one of the more colorful characters in American politics…. I’ve been there for the Fourth of July many times… and every cop in Boston looks like I’m his brother… My first stand up special in America, I shot it in Boston. I like that town. I’m appalled by this thing and when I watch it on these streets that I know, it’s horrifying.”

I'm already wondering if it was someone protesting the tax deadline or someone that didn't make the cut for the marathon or some combination of haters after athletes or Boston & taxes or tea parties...

Hug the ones you love and make every moment count. You never know what's coming next.

Not suggesting that any bombing is worse than any other. Or that this is less devastating than a hellfire missile hitting a funeral, or just a home. But, if one is "sick of this shit", can't they at least acknowledge that, well, the US visits this shit on others on a daily basis and refuses to even admit it does it?

This bombing might not have anything to do with the ME.
I hope the perpetrators are found, convicted, and sentenced.
But more than that, I hope that all countries and organizations that involve themselves with that shit - STOP - because it's an endless round of repercussions.

I think of all the ways to harm and maim other human beings, a remote detonated bomb is the most cowardly imaginable. Its also the sickest and most perverse. Somewhere, in the moments after those blasts, there was someone, another human being, that triggered the destruction - from a safe distance - to get some kind of sick, twisted sense of fulfillment from the act. They probably were ecstatic as the chaos reigned and the screams filled the streets.

When that person (or persons) is caught, I hope that they are brought to true justice and forced to live with the consequences of their decision. I hope that they are spared nothing but death. The responsible parties to these acts of cowardice do not deserve a quick death or a humane one. They deserve to die of illness, painful, slow and malignant...the same as their souls.

At one point or another, any Empire can no longer rule their world.

Ask the Greeks or the Romans or the Nazis or the English.

And, soon, ask us and in a few years, the Chinese (again)

Empire comes before the fall.

Kinda like pride.

There are no words. Some sick asshole(s) turned what was supposed to be a triumphant event into a tragedy. I'm becoming less sad and more furious with each new incident.

His rant on how these are terrorists and not soldiers risking their lives in some grand scheme was spot on.

Reminded me of why I like the man. Thanks for the heads-up.
