Has anyone heard anything about this aspect of the events?

(1,990 posts)There are crowds of people at the finish line, and you don't have crowds of runners crossing all at once.

(23,864 posts)...cordoned off with heavy-duty metal fencing, making it almost impossible to get onto the street where the runners were.
Simply put, spectators' bodies absorbed most of the blast and, apparently, ball bearing shrapnel, before it had a chance to reach the runners.
