The statement leaves the question "So, has an 'uncredible' group claimed responsibility?"
Way too early in what will probably be a long investigation for that kind of statement.

After an event like this crazies come out of the woodwork to claim responsibility -- people who couldn't plausibly have done it (such as 85 year old in nursing home in Kansas). He's taken responsibility but its not credible.

2. I would imagine they get cranks who take "credit" but give wrong details, or no details at all...

Cops and newspapers have to deal with a lot of local cranks calling up and claiming something they haven't done. Just sad and troubled people who need attention.
