General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe fact that this was in Boston on tax day is not a coincidence.
It is not just random.
It is not Al Qaida.
It is not N Korea.
It is worse.
Domestic, homegrown lunatics. Call them Tea Party or wingnuts,. I don't care. Whatever.
You can decry me for speculating. I don't give a fuck.
I am in Oklahoma City. I lived though and lost people to domestic terrorism.
This is that all over again.
It is time to take off the gloves and fucking arrest those who spew treason and foment revolution.
It ain't free speech.
It's sedition.

Thank you so much for being the hall monitor today. I am sure you have saved many lives with your quick action on this thread.
Now you can get busy assembling the grand jury so you can indict me as a co-conspirator.

(5,038 posts)Seriously? Someone posts to a blog and they are as bad as folks who murdered two and injured hundreds? This post may be premature but no way that makes them the same as a terrorist bomber murdering innocent spectators.

(114,904 posts)Living in OC doesn't give you any special insight. And in Boston, April 15 is known more for being Patriot's day which is a big time holiday there than anything else- including tax day. (Yes, I lived in Boston- for over a decade)

(28,443 posts)A holiday in the city where the original Tea Party was held. It's not much of a speculative stretch to think the most extreme current tea party members imagines the tree of liberty needs watering on tax day. Of course that being said, why target the marathon and not, say, a federal office building? But whatever. A lunatic doesn't really need an excuse for their lunacy, it's us in the aftermath who feel the need to attach some meaning to the meaningless acts of madmen.

(23,664 posts)The liberal media had "Arab terrorists" tried and convicted before the dust from the explosions had even settled.
There were a lot of red faces when the perp turned out to be a right wing nut case.
Let's not do the same thing they did.

We'll see, however, a marathon doesn't seem like a likely target for such a person. One would think they'd go after a government structure, if they were anti-government.

(30,674 posts)so we have to wait--nobody knows what happened or why, could be anything--for example: Al Qaeda trademark #1 is multiple timed attacks in different locations.
We don't know a thing yet--
but the Boston Marathon finish line is one of the most filmed locations in the US. It wouldn't surprise me if they caught somebody on camera.

(12,792 posts)is when people like Jane Harman appear on CNN trying to stir up paranoia against Al Qaeda, when she herself is not citing any evidence. We know that Howard Dean is making noise about leaving the Democrats if funding is not cut for the Pentagon. It would certainly benefit the Pentagon if this were spun as some sort of foreign terrorist threat.
