The Merlin Project guys say that something is going to happen with him and also to Howard Stern in the next 3 years. They're guessing that it may be the end of their careers in radio, as radio is changing and can no longer support their large contracts.
It will happen on a certain day in January, but in different years.
The Merlin Project is the study of time cycles and they study these cycles through computer programs they have written. They're not always right, but I think I've heard they have a batting average of around 70%.
One of them remarked that Hannity's viewership is down 40%.
They said it looks like the end of an "era" in radio.
I hope they're right; can't happen soon enough for me.

(7,932 posts)he is horribly overweight, he's a drug addict and he has to be full of stress, how can anyone lie that much and not be? I don't know how his heart hasn't given out on him yet.

but it puts one at a high risk for heart attack and I mentioned other things that also put one at a high risk for death and he's doing many many of those things. Christ, read the full post before you bitch about it.

I will be doing a happy dance when the inevitable happens, if I'm still alive, myself.
He's done far too much damage to us for any politeness.

(6,843 posts)Points to the fact that unless you are talking about one of the very rare familial hypercholesterolemia, genetics is a weak predictor of heart disease.

Edited to add: OK, spoke too soon. One of the futurists in 'The Merlin Project' is associated with the psychical "sciences," and the list of predictions for 2010 is way off the mark!

(35,619 posts)They're not practitioners but because their work involves the future, they have to try to understand and investigate what the psychic area has to offer.
As far as 2010 goes, they don't claim to be 100%.
That something's going to happen with these two and the date is as far as they can say; what it is is open to interpretation. Their comments were the most likely scenario they could come up with, given the facts of what is going on in radio.

(1,426 posts)so big that the analytics team that I work with have created an audio category called Howard to go with genres like rock, jazz etc.
He is not going anywhere - unless he wants to.

(4,340 posts)Maybe it's schtick, maybe not. He could take over for any late night talk show host (or even Piers Morgan) and do a better job than all of them. He does his homework and asks really good questions. And his guests usually respond. He really is the best interviewer anywhere.

People get bored with clowns, but even if the dumbass radio racket has grown thinner, it can be briefly reengaged by substituting a new clown.

At first, it got me excited, thinking he'd be gone.....Now, I'll believe it when it happens.

(5,624 posts)its that the airwaves won't be able to support him. Talk radio is moving to more local hate-jocks because they can't afford the HaNuttys and Limpballs. He may find a home on satellite radio, but even that industry will be tightening belts in competition with online streaming services etc.
