It's easy to forget what life was like when the decision was made... What the fucking fuck???
Yeah, it was awful. Fox news was going 24/7 with fake terror news. We had some bizarre Fisher-Price color coded system... the WH Press secretary saying people had to 'watch what they say'... total hysteria.
An environment created by, nurtured by the RW for political gain.
It was not what the world was like. It was the world Bush created, intentionally... for the purpose of castigating political enemies and to make things like Iraq possible.

(998 posts)people need a padded White House, for the emotionally challenged, priviledged men who are given Presidencies by their friends and family.
They could pretend all they wanted about being omnipotent, yet do little to no harm in the real world.

The decision to wage war on Iraq was made before he ever entered the White House. Read the books of Paul O'Neill (his first Sec of Treas) and/or Scott McClelland (his first Press Secretary) about the initial days of his swearing in, or look at the maps obtained by FOIA from Judicial Watch in which Cheney's famous secret energy meeting where Cheney & the secret participants divided up the Iraqi oil fields in MARCH of 2001. Read any of PNAC's documents and hundreds of other sources.
If there is a hell, Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld will burn in it.

(3,655 posts)It was the greatest foreign policy blunder in American history. That's Bill Odom, General Odom, who died. What did we do? We attacked, invaded and occupied a country which did not threaten us, did not want war with us, did not attack us, to do what? To deprive it of weapons it did not even have.
