OREGON CITY, OR (KPTV) -
Oregon City police released the names Monday of the people involved in an accidental shooting that left a 9-year-old girl dead.
Shayla Shonneker, 9, was playing in her backyard while her mother's boyfriend, 32-year-old Joseph Wolters, was handling his gun inside the home.
As Wolters was practicing holstering and un-holstering his gun, it went off, police said, and the bullet traveled outside and struck Shonneker.
Police and paramedics first received the call just before 5 p.m. and responded to the 2000 block of 12th Street in Oregon City.
A LifeFlight helicopter was soon called in and Shonneker was rushed to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital, where she died.
Wolters, who lives at the home, cooperated with police during an interview with detectives.

As what, an old west gunfighter actor?
What the fuck kind of idiot thinks that is a large part of his job duty that he needs to practice in his home doing it.

practicing handling his gun to prepare him for his new job. Wolters is also a member of the military reserve."

"practicing holstering and un-holstering his gun" is a hell of a euphemism for what children (and Travis Bickle types) do while mouthing tough-guy slogans.
