Police Cover up?: Ga. Teen Dies After Getting Stuck Upside-Down Inside Wrestling Mat

The more I hear about this case, the more it sounds like murder and not an accident..

Sheriff’s role in Kendrick Johnson death called into question, coroner even seeking answers

The death of Kendrick Johnson in January has still not been resolved to the satisfaction of the family or the local coroner. April 11 also marks the thirteenth week in which the GBI has yet to release the final autopsy report.

This week the family has organized protests and walks to raise awareness to the situation, calling for justice.

Kendrick Johnson“We haven’t gotten any information. So if they’re still investigating why haven’t they brought fourth the evidence?” said the teen’s father Kenneth Johnson.

On January 11, Johnson’s death was ruled an accident by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department and media outlets reported it that way, but since the beginning of this case, the Lowndes County’s Sheriff’s Office has had a larger role in this case than the county coroner – from dispatching theories about how Johnson died to the Lowndes Sheriff’s Office submitting samples

VALDOSTA, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – A high school student died in a tragic accident after getting stuck in upright wrestling mats while trying to retrieve his shoe.

The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office told The Valdosta Daily Times that 17-year-old Kendrick’s Johnson’s body was found upside-down, lodged inside a wrestling mat at the Lowndes High School gym.

“At some point, Kendrick Johnson either reached into the center of one of the rolled mats or fell into the center opening of the mat and became lodged,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement to the Daily Times. “We feel like he was trying to reach a shoe that was down that hole, but no one knows (why he reached into the mat) but him and the good Lord.”

The sheriff’s office says that the rush of blood to Johnson’s head over a period of time caused him to pass out and eventually die.

Despite what authorities have said, Johnson’s family believes the teen was murdered.

“I want to express how did my son go missing during school hours in broad daylight? We know our son was murdered while he was at Lowndes High School. We do know that,” Kenneth Johnson, Kendrick’s father, told WALB-TV.

Kendrick Johnson was first reported missing on Jan. 10. His body was found inside the school’s gym the next day.

This is a picture of Kendrick Johnson's father trying to get himself into one of the mats they say Kendrick Johnson supposedly gotten himself stuck in. His father was trying to push himself into the mat & this is all he could get inside of the mat

Reports from the Times is that the post-mortem photos of the boy show lacerations and bruising, but it was the Sheriff, not the coroner who proclaimed the death an accident.

Kendrick’s family has reportedly hired an attorney, backed by a pair of retired homicide detectives conducting their own investigation.

There's a Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/RipKendrickJohnson WARNING: A photo of is face post mortem is there. If you're wondering if you should click or not: people are comparing it to Emmett Till's photo. The reason why the parents shared the photo is because as stated above, they believe foul play has taken place..
