I just learned that yesterday was Amy Goodman's birthday from the Facebook "Being Liberal" page, which posted this pic in her honor:

And the day when she brought up the firing of Phil Donahue LIVE ON MSNBC's 10th ANNIVERSARY special...right in front of Chris Matthews in July 2006! (Didn't Amy Goodman get "banned" from MSNBC after that? But I found she was on the Dec. 3, 2011 Chris Hayes show reporting live from the 2011 UN Climate Change conference as well as the Aug. 22, 2007 Hardball and Feb. 27, 2009 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the show that was MSNBC's 8pm show before Ed Schultz started. Nothing in 2008 or 2010 even though Goodman was a regular on MSNBC before that day in 2006!)

Thank you Amy Goodman for a fabulous career in independent journalism that challenges the political and corporate establishments. I will be sure to get up at 5am and listen to Democracy Now live via WBAI.org!! (Livestream.com/DemocracyNow also streams the show live at 8am ET)
