On Tuesday, supporters gathered once again outside the Vancouver courthouse where Whitlock appeared. (Facebook/For the Love of Captain)

A Vancouver man accused of dumping a severely beaten German Shepherd in a garbage bin has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty.

Brian Whitlock, 26, entered his guilty plea on Tuesday and is expected to be sentenced in June.

Captain died the day after he was found in a dumpster. (CBC)

Last July, a two-year-old German Shepherd named Captain was found in a dumpster in the Vancouver neighbourhood of Kitsilano. The dog was wrapped in a bloody blanket, emaciated, stabbed, cut and brutally beaten.

Captain died of his injuries soon after he was found.

I love animals and really can NOT imagine a greater evil than the intentional

infliction of pain on them or any other innocent, defenseless creature.

I too hope there is a kind afterlife for Captain and all other victims

of cruelty.

Rest in peace, Captain, may justice be done for you. Wait by the Rainbow Bridge and you can run with our pack.

"Whitlock now faces a possible sentence of up to five years in jail, a $10,000 fine, and a lifetime ban on owning or having custody of animals.

Moriarty said the SPCA is hoping for a life-time ban and jail time."

I cannot understand. I simply cannot understand. They will do anything for you. They only want to please...

Please also do so if you can. I cannot stop all cruelty myself but I will support those that do work against it.

for people who do things this horrid. This is a sick bastard who is sadistic and evil, and he should not be able to walk the streets. I don't know when our laws will see all living creatures in the same light. And I think that our laws in the US are generally more lax.
