(6,342 posts)I imagine they are doing it to look taller. Its been said even Kim Jong Il wore heeled shoes at times to try to look taller and more intimidating.

(6,342 posts)Intense and unrelenting propaganda is common under these types of regimes and closed societies. The big 5 are required for totalitarianism.....isolation, control, uncertainty, repetition, and paranoia/fear. The Kims have been using all 5 for decades.
Although I do think some North Koreans know a lot of what their government preaches is bullcrap. They are just terrified to even openly talk about doing anything about it. We do see defections and people trying to escape once in a while. Some try to smuggle out pictures that the government doesnt want the rest of the world to see. So some people in that country can see through a lot of this stuff.
