So this wingnut sends a "Hyuk-Hyuk Global Warming My Ass" email because of our weird cold spring…

My reply:

I long ago told you that temperature variance increases much faster than the mean. This means that "global warming" manifests as crazy weather patterns rather than as simple increases in temperature. The current weather pattern is due to perturbations in the global jet stream brought about by the earth absorbing more heat in certain places than in others. It is actually further proof of GW. The disproof of GW theory would be a return to normal conditions, with "normal" meaning the way it was in the period of maybe 200 to 50 years ago. You're like the guy standing at the rail of a sinking ship that is beginning to roll over. You feel yourself temporarily rising & therefore refuse to get into a lifeboat because you don't believe that the ship is sinking.

The line I usually take is to explain that rising temperature is simply one expression of rising energy within the atmosphere and surface. A more energetic system will be more volatile, display greater extremes, swing between them more rapidly.

the last time it snowed in wisconsin there were several guys from my town fueling up for a run to wisconsin.

i did notice the rock went from a slow trickle to a few feet below flood stage.

by the way... the rock river from the horicon marsh to the mississippi finally got federal recognition .so keep that walker asshole from letting polluters dump their shit in the river.

Walker I mean, not the snowmobilers. They're about to permit a devastating iron mine in the hills just south of the lake.

It's probably pretty lousy snowmobiling because the snow is wet & sloppy.

Just like airplanes and birds and helium balloons prove that there's no gravity.

Seriously - there are so many people I would love to say that to, who just do not get it. This would help.
