WASHINGTON – Rep. Steve Stockman’s re-election campaign slogan is raising eyebrows in Washington and beyond.

The Friendswood Republican tweeted his new slogan early this morning: “If babies had guns, they wouldn’t be aborted.” As of Friday afternoon, the tweet had been passed on more than 290 times.

Supporters of Stockman can also get a bumper sticker with the slogan in exchange for a $10 donation.

Despite his freshman status, the lawmaker is already well-known for his pro-gun, anti-abortion stance. In February, he brought rocker and guns-rights advocate Ted Nugent to the president’s State of the Union address.
