Reebok rejects Rapper Rick Ross re: Rape rhyme. (Trigger warning)

http://bostonherald.com/inside_track/the_inside_track/2013/04/the_scoop_reebok_drops_rick_ross

The Canton sneaker giants said Ross will no longer promote their shoes after 75,000 people signed a petition condemning the lyrics in his new single “U.O.E.N.O.”

“Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand,” the company said in a statement. “Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so. While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse. At this time, it is in everyone’s best interest for Reebok to end its partnership with Mr. Ross.”

Bolding is mine because, while I believe they ultimately did the right thing in dropping Ross, I also think it's weasely to say he doesn't condone rape when the lyrics in question straight up do condone drugging a girl and taking her to his hotel room and raping her.

by one third, according to this web site.

He's got a couple of gold records to his credit, but he doesn't even record his own albums on his own label. And are the Gangster Disciples still gunning for him?

but I did hear "Fuck Rick Ross" and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want those fellas mad at me.

The song had a pretty good groove though.
