Jonathan Winters, the actor and comedian who gained fame with his roles in "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," "The Loved One" and "Mork and Mindy" has died. He was 87.
Winters' agent told NBC News that the actor died of natural causes Thursday night at his home in Montecito, Calif.

(24,461 posts). . . quite ground-breaking and hilarious, and very talent laden. Lennie Pike was one of my favorite characters in it.
I think that movie now only has 5 or so surviving actors (Mickey Rooney, Sid Caesar, Barrie Chase, Stan Freberg and Marvin Kaplan).

Suffered from mental illness most of his life - so much so it interfered with his career often. His TV appearances were an integral part of my growing up. Godspeed, you funny man.

He appeared often on talk shows and variety shows doing weird skits, sometimes dressed like a little bitty kid with a child's voice or dressed up as an old woman. He had an extremely bizarre and creative sense of humor.
May he RIP. He was a funny man.
