It's all in the math. 9-15% vote in primaries, 90% tell pollsters they favor background checks.

Maybe the 10% that are against background checks are the same 10% that vote.

...wanna bet every Senator that voted the NRA line yesterday all get a nice check every election cycle from them. The power of the lobby lies in its financial reach more than its voters reach. The NRA backed a lot of losers in '12 (most notably President Obama) but their donations were a nice chunk of change in a lot of rushpublican pockets. The polls and votes mean nothing right now as congresscritters suck up to the big money they know they'll need to lean on for the next election cycle...
