If I have one criticism of the teachers unions, it's that they aren't doing enough to get other professions unionized. The main reason Repugs have been so successful bashing teachers in recent years is that they have been able to play off the envy that non-unionized workers have toward unionized workers with good benefits and pensions.

And I'm not just talking about WalMart or factory workers. White-collar professions should be unionized - accountants, engineers, administrative workers - just about any profession!
