I think the next battle should be a grace period. There is no reason to make the debt accrue interest while you are in school. Give people a chance to earn some money before you start adding on the interest.

That really sucks. When I got my NDSL (National Direct Student Loan), the interest rate was 3%-- and it did not start to kick in until I had been out of school for 9 months.

And on top of that, tuition rates have increased dramatically since I was in college. I feel so sorry for you guys (and gals) who have to have that albatross strung around your neck.

We really ought to just fund the education at least the same way that military is a given funding without question.

The government should force tuition down to reasonable rates for public schools anyway. The organizations that govern professionals schools should as well (I'm looking at you ABA)
