right. That may be why he's keeping mum (poor guy is probably afraid of being asked).

When he was against escalating in Afghanistan and that was well known, when Obama took the Generals' advice and went ahead, then Biden spouted the Administration Line.

We'll have to wait and see, but I fear the only thing we'll hear from Joe at this point is the Administration talking points.

I'd love a redux of the Gay Marriage situation.

ETA: And until/unless Joe rules out a run in 2016, he's got to be aware of political ramifications, and this is a hot potato.

In any case, try to answer the question. Why should Biden obliterate any political chances he might hope to have for the sake of a President who has demonstrated that he is a liar-- and worse, a President that has now made Biden into a liar as well? What would Biden get out of this other that the gratitude of the dishonorable hack in the Oval Office?

"Number one, I guarantee you, flat guarantee you, there will be no changes in Social Security," Biden said, per a pool report. "I flat guarantee you."

So now it's on Biden. He has every incentive in the world to publicly distance himself from this garbage, or he can own it along with his boss. But he doesn't get a pass. He has to explain the DRAMATIC difference between his many many promises just a few short months ago and what this administration is doing today.

My guess is he didn't think Obama would do this. But who knows?

Would you have LOYALTY to a man who sent you out to lie for him? If Biden chooses to jump into this abyss there's no coming back, he is finished politically. Right now he looks like he is just a big a liar as his boss. If he denounces this and distances himself from it, he not only gets to hurt Obama for betraying him, but he can milk it for some fantastic face time and credibility. He goes from being "Joe the liar" to being "Joe, trusting guy and victim of Obama's lies, a man of courage and integrity."

This is the kind of thing you can parlay into a decent shot at the top spot.

15. First of all, Obama has not "sent him out to lie" for him.

Maybe the reason for the silence is just that -- Joe wants to distance himself from this but will not badmouth the POTUS.

If he chooses to remain quiet, it's his choice. He doesn't look like a liar to me, and my sense of him is he wouldn't "milk it for some fantastic fae time and credibility." Not everyone is viewing him as "Joe the liar".

You need to present your argument to Joe, not me. It's his decision, and if he suffers politically for it, it's his choice. He's a big boy, he's used to losing the run for President.

He can kiss any presidential aspirations goodbye if he looks like he's carrying the President's water on this.

9. I think that's how he feels -- and if he were POTUS we wouldn't be discussing this.

As the OP noted, we've heard nothing from Biden, so he may be keeping mum with an eye on his political future. I DO think, though, if he is cornered and asked, he'll have to toe the Admin line. When asked about Afghanistan after O decided to go ahead about the escalation, he was very cautious in his responses (yes! Joe!). He never enthusiastically supported, it as much as supported the President.

Joe is fiercely loyal, he will not get into a fight with Obama.

I don't feel it's on Biden at all -- any more than it would be on any VP. Again, politics. The buck stops with the POTUS.

In my fantasy, Biden is giving Obama an earful.

Protection Act of 2005 that made it much harder for the poor and middle class to declare bankruptcy? That Joe Biden? He does whatever the banksters tell him to.

There are times when a Senator has to bite the bullet and cast a vote to protect one of the major industries of his state. And Delaware is credit card central.
