Marilyn Monroe slept in a bra to keep her assets firm and perky, according to Hollywood lore. A new study out of France suggests it might have been more effective for the screen goddess to go "au naturel" instead.
Yahoo! OMG: Lady Gaga's Controversial Assault Riffle Bra
Researchers spent 15 years studying the breasts of over 330 French women, and concluded that wearing a bra does not prevent sagging or ease back pain as commonly thought. "Medically, physiologically, anatomicallybreasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity, Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon, from the University of Besançon, told France Info Radio. "On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra."
Taking measurements with a caliper, the researchers found that by not wearing a bra, muscles around the breast actually strengthened and the "nipple raised 7mm per year toward the shoulder." However, the scientists did not recommend all women abandon their bras since their muscles had probably already degraded.

(20,776 posts)It came from a legitimate news source.. and its a fairly in depth story.. I see nothing wrong with it. As a female, I was interested in it, and was hoping others would too, without all the immature silly comments.
Edited to note: I should have seen the other posting, had I done so, this wouldn't be here at all, I don't like duplicating same stories.

(50,566 posts)I used to think the women in National Geographic had "long" boobs 'cuz of no bras. But now I think the whole feeding babies thing had a lot to do with it.
I spent a total of four years breastfeeding, so although I probably got some good cancer-prevention benefits, it probably did no favors to my perkiness...not that there's any comparison between the two conditions.

(50,566 posts)To clarify, I breastfed two kids for two years each, not one kid for four years, not that there's anything wrong with that ...
BainsBane
(53,012 posts)but I guess I assumed it was more than one child. I did recently read a study saying American children aren't breast fed long enough, but it focused on children fed for less than a year.

Bras are like one of my favorite topics of conversation. I could fill encyclopedias full of knowledge on them.
AsahinaKimi
(20,776 posts)alert on a perfectly good topic.. I mean its not like someone wrote some Immature stuff ..it was from an actual story, from a legitimate news source. But maybe some people just freak out about stuff like this. If that's the case, I apologize.
