Are you freaking serious?

I was just listening to The Takeaway on NPR, where they were doing a piece on recent gun legislation.

Included in the people they were interviewing was a representative from the "Concerned Gun Owners of Bucks County."

When asked about what should be done about the issue of gun violence in schools, the representative predictably parroted the NRA's "solution" in calling for armed guards in schools.

When the host asked whether needing to have armed guards in schools was unfortunate and regressive, the gun representative replied (paraphrasing), "Yes, but these shootings are just the result of three decades of breakdown in the family and the increasing role of big government in society. "

So yes, they are actually now blaming "Big Government" for school shootings. Unbelievable.

Traditional fathers (in particular) and traditional families (in general) are no longer necessary because most of their functions have been supplanted by "Big Government." If you don't have fathers in the home (driven out by fickle women who prefer Big Government to their husbands) nobody explains to kids that shooting a bunch of people for no real reason is bad.

... blame the carnage their toys cause on everything BUT the toys that do it. Why not "big government" too? Makes precisely as much sense as the rest of the NRA bullshit.

analysis, critical reasoning skills, education are skills you develop over time with practice. It's not required for membership the concerned gun owners of Bucks county ( )

I'm being sarcastic, of course.

So that's the solution, huh?

Armed guards in schools.

Then when kooks with guns decide to shoot up shopping malls, we'll need armed guards there as well.

Churches.

Restaurants.

Anyplace people congregate.

Armed guards everywhere.

sigh...

So the NRA idiot blames "big guvmint" and women for all these massacres?

Wow. What a load of horse crap.

the government should support putting armed guards in schools.

And these armed guards would be trained and certified by who?
