Oh Really? McConnell aide claims that the FBI has “several leads” into alleged bugging of his office

A Mitch McConnell aide claims that the FBI has “several leads” into the alleged bugging of his campaign headquarters, which McConnell has accused “the left” of carrying out. This detail is interesting:

Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Daniel Logsdon urged the McConnell campaign Wednesday to make public results of any FBI investigation “in light of Sen. McConnell’s various conspiracy theories.” In response, (McConnell spokesman Jesse) Benton said any release of results from the investigation “would be left up to the FBI.”

and this:

McConnell spokesman Robert Steurer said in an email Wednesday that the recording captures a speaker noting that members of McConnell's staff were volunteering "in their free time."

But a transcript of the tape produced by Mother Jones instead says "thank them three times."

"Yeah, sure. I'll, uh, just check with the boys down at the crime lab. They got four more detectives working on the case. They got us working in shifts!"

According to the article it's difficult to hear what's really being said, but when trying to transcribe garbled speech you either go with common sense or you mark it inaudible.

Not to be construed as my defending Turtleman. That loathsome toad has negative equity in being a feeling, just human being.

...that tape was made on purpose. Think about it. Here is a group of either employees or his own election committee (on the govt. payroll, perhaps) and they make the comment about this being in their free time? Come on. That statement was made on purpose on a tape that was made on purpose for the intention of letting it "be planted into" the public via Corn/Mother Jones...on purpose.

Just imagine the sympathy for Turtleman from the right. By getting the FBI involved, the attention would be free advertising for his campaign.

If "in their free time" are the actual words spoken, it's very convenient that someone would point it out. Rovian setup.

Meh, my interest in this story is minimal anyway since Ashley Judd isn't running.
