Putting the "gag" in Gag Order (Pink Slime)

A judge has blocked Iowa State University from releasing documents about food safety research conducted for the maker of the beef product that critics call "pink slime."

The reason? Publishing the data would give away the secret formula for Pink Slime. Then everyone could make their own Pink Slime, and where would McDonald's be then? Huh? HUH?

District Judge Dale Ruigh ruled last month that releasing the information would cause "irreparable harm" to Sioux Falls, SD-based Beef Products, Inc., by revealing information about proprietary food-processing techniques.

The judge also slapped a gag order on this guy, also cited for disclosing "information about proprietary food-processing techniques"

I can't tell you how grossed out I was when I saw this in the news. But, I was really happy that I had already given up meat. I still shudder to think of how much of it I ate, but it really was most likely a minuscule amount as even as an omnivore I didn't eat very much meat, it was more of an after thought most days.
