Mom Died last August. Thirty years at a non-profit hospital (she donated part of her salary for several years to help build the new location and got her name on a plaque) got her a pension of maybe $130 a month. It changed from year to year depending on what banksters robbed from working people.
That means after WWII Vet dad died in 94, mom had about $900 per month to live on. Every time Soc. Security went up, Medicare seemed to take it away. If not for Medicaid, mom would not have died with dignity in hospice.
Mr. President, don't rob the dignity of our oldest members of society.
Next you can tackle Veterans living under bridges! That is the Democratic party I know and vote for.

(53,661 posts)Medicaid is, and has been the cushion for the most vulnerable and has been greatly extended under the ACA. Despite red state governors trying to stop it, the expansion will move to take care of them.

Whoever falls below the poverty line in the future for whatever reason will benefit, and those who are benefitting now will be protected as they have been.
I am glad that Medicaid was there for your mom as it has been for many people that I know. These are generally forgotten by those with more.

(26,224 posts)the senate will do.
The Republicans who are the majority in congress would gladly throw grandma off a cliff, under a bus and then for good measure toss in a drone strike on her corpse.
The senate though? That one is harder to call and it could go either way.

(1,831 posts)But our leader's actions sort of rule that out don't they?
The only peaceful way I see out of this mess is third party. It's doable if we can find enough common ground with the teabag crowd, most of which seem delusional. But perhaps educable when faced with facts and history.
But we need a uniting force. Something sadly lacking in todays leader's resume'.
