The rest have said it's a wonderful and serious compromise that the Dems are willing to make.

he and Dana Milbank were having some obnoxious chuckles about the protests about chained CPI looking like the 1960's.

But Matthews did express some skepticism about it, and questioned the wisdom's of the presidents strategy of giving first to the GOP.

I saw a Tweet by Digby that Chris Matthews & Dana Milbank called Bernie Sanders an old hippie, and I thought Matthews might be completely in favor of Chained CPI.

Milbank called Sanders a nut. Or he could have been talking about the people that attended yesterday's rally in general, I couldn't tell. Chris Matthews was talking about Bernie Sanders' speech and chained CPI while showing footage of Sanders and people at the rally, and Dana Milbank said "this just shows that the right and left both have their nuts."

Chris Matthews basically laughs and keeps going.

Based on your description, I think Dana Milbank was ridiculing both Bernie Sanders and the people at the rally.

One way to discredit someone is to call them a nut. There was a reason Keith Olbermann banned him from his show when he was on the air.

Some, like Rachel, have been disappointingly silent on the issue, though they haven't specifically came out for chained CPI, they will spend their entire show on the gun control issue, etc.

That being said, Senator Merkley is going to be on Chris Hayes' show tonight to talk chained CPI, so that's good.

She has always seemed to be so progressive, but with Matthews and Schultz coming out and saying we need a moderate president like Hillary, where does this leave Rachel?
