Something good has come from the Presidents budget proposal.

The Presidents willingness to chain social security to the CPI has generated swift, vocal, and almost universal opposition from the public and other interests groups. I feel that what we are seeing now will make it very difficult for politicians from either party to support cuts to benefits moving forward. I know Republicans will have no problem with it in the future, but the more centrist Republicans will not want their names attached to it.

I think I am so pissed at his proposal that I am trying to find a silver lining. The opposition to his proposal has been grand. I just wish we were watching the right oppose a proposal put forth by the President to eliminate the cap instead.

We don't even have centrist Democrats. We have the party of the right and the party of the far right.

But according to current American politics, there is such thing as a centrist republican. I agree that todays centrist is much further to the right than the centrists of a couple of decades ago.

Bill Clinton's undisputed crown of Best. Republican. President. EVER!
is in serious jeopardy. It will be hard for the Old Blue Dog to top offering up cuts to Social Security.

Clinton made a good rally for regaining the title when he went back to the Arkansas Democratic Primary in 2010 and campaigned for DINO Blanch Lincoln, the wicked witch of Arkansas who crowed about being "the one who killed the Public Option"

Old Bill got in some good licks ridiculing Organized LABOR and Liberal Grass Roots for supporting a Pro-LABOR, Pro-Health Care replacement for Lincoln.
He was in Top Liberal Bashing Form down in Arkansas,
but he won't be able to top the Obama Cuts to Social Security knock out punch.

The Old Dog should just surrender his crown with dignity,
and fade away.

...trade, financial market deregulation, DADT, DOMA, and, straight from the lips of the CATO Institute to his, "ending welfare as we know it."

Clinton wins.

A shill is an anonymous face-in-the-crowd that pretends to not know the main actors in a good scam. They are low skilled, bit players.
If you have seen The Sting, the shills were the bit players pretending to be making bets at the betting Parlor.

Bill Clinton IS a World Class Front Man, or "Roper".
The Front Man is a highly skilled, charismatic, smooth talking, hustler who uses his talents to make the mark feel comfortable and gain their trust,
usually making the mark believe he is on the inside of a good deal.
In The Sting, Robert Redford was the Front Man or Roper.

A good Front Man can steal your money, and make you feel like he did you a favor. Bill Clinton is much better than just "good".
He is WORLD CLASS, the best I have ever seen,
and I say that with respect.

I grew up in New Orleans, and learned to appreciate a good scam that leaves the victim believing he/she got a good deal,
or better yet, leaves them believing they almost WON something.
"Next time, for SURE,"
or
"If we just had 60 votes."
THAT keeps the money pump running.

Low budget Carnivals are a good place to watch fairly benign hustles and scams.
Nobody get hurt really bad as the Roper convinces the High School Jock that he need to spend $40 to WIN the $2 big prize for his sweetheart.

The Most Dangerous and Most Sociopathic Con Men naturally gravitate to Churches and Politics.
The Mega-TV-Churches have always been fertile ground for Con Men,
and, of course, Politics.

But I have never seen ANYONE as smooth as Bill Clinton.
He actually convinced America that competing with Slave Labor Countries for OUR jobs would be a GOOD for us.
Man, THAT was smooth,
completely without conscience, but smooooth.
Credit where credit is due.

He is still at it too.
I had the chance to watch him perform his magic here in Arkansas during the 2010 Democratic Primary. He came to town to rescue DINO Blanche Lincoln's (Senator from WalMart) failing Primary Campaign against Pro-LABOR, Pro-HealthCare Democratic Lt Governor Bill Halter.

He toured the predominantly Black areas telling them that it was important for them to get out and vote for Blanche Lincoln (the Anti-LABOR woman who killed the Public Option) in the Democratic Primary.

Ed Schultz had Bill Halter on his radio program weekly, or so it seemed. Shame the way it turned out.

Your posts remind me of a great David Mamet film before he turned into a douche bag. Anyway, its "House of Games." Wouldn't be at all surprised if you've already seen it.

Halter came across to me as being quite similar to the Young Bill Clinton, when the latter was running for Congress (1974), state attorney general (1976), and governor (1978). So it was like the Old Clinton was campaigning against the Young Clinton
