Obama has my permission to Compromise for One Thing Only

Minimum Wage.

I doubt my permission is required, or even desired, but if a grand bargain does not have a BIG (and soon) minimum wage increase then fuck it.

But I would, if I was anybody in charghe or anything, sign off on substantial compromise to achieve a big MW increase. (The $9.00 over time asked for in the budget is a joke, but would be better than the nothing we will probably get.)

The minimum wage may be the only income equality measure they cannot fuck up. It is too simple. A simple change in MW cannot help but change society.

The minimum wage is the only support we have for ALL wages and ALL work conditions. And it is simple math... it defies sophistry and interpretation.

Even a middle-class white collar worker faces this daily: do X or go work at McDonald's. (As an example. McDonald's often pays above minimum wage, but it's a symbol... the base-level service job)

However well or poorly McDonald's pays indirectly determines the length of your coffee break, whether you have dental, etc..

So yes, I would give up some stuff for a big MW.

And the Republicans would not allow it. Ever. Because they know what I know... it is THE policy.

1. For sure, a large minimum wage increase would help all the people who

are struggling, very much so. This is exactly what Obama should be pushing and making stump speeches about.

And the MW is key to a federal solution to state union-busting.

The one simple thing that tips every labor versus capital interaction toward labor or toward capital.
