How about parents who send their kids to private schools?

Sorry, I don't think this is a good idea.

supporters of parochial schools. They'd claim a lot of money was saved by their kids not attending the public schools.

All of us should be supporting public schools. At any given time only a minority of people have children in school, but we all benefit from them. If you want to home-school your kids or send them to a private or parochial school that's fine. But you -- just like every other taxpayer -- are still obligated to support the public schools.

(Climbing back down from soap box.)

The GOP in that state is a special kind of looney, between this bill, a bill requiring a 2 yr wait on divorce, and a bill declaring war on nipples... http://aattp.org/north-carolina-teapublicans-declare-war-on-female-nipples/
