I'm thinking the "taping" of McConnell's conversations came from his own people. Someone on his

staff recorded this perhaps with a cell phone or other device. Someone or maybe a couple of people don't like him and recorded this to throw his campaign out of whack. Should I get some tinfoil?

Nobody bugged Turtle Man's office like he claims; somebody on his staff or with access to that meeting recorded it and leaked it.

Of course, the person will ultimately be exposed and certainly fired. My guess is either a disillusioned Republican or a Republican with a liberal SO. Hopefully, the former.

An update to the Mother Jones article indicates they are fairly comfortable with the legality of publishing the tape:

As the story makes clear, we were recently provided with the tape by a source who wishes to remain anonymous. We published the article on the tape due to its obvious newsworthiness. We were not involved in the making of the tape, but it is our understanding that the tape was not the product of any kind of bugging operation. We cannot comment beyond that, except to say that under the circumstances, our publication of the article is both legal and protected by the First Amendment.

If it was a surreptitious recording by a lefty then they might be in deep BandinI, but I greatly doubt it.

CBS news had been reporting that it was one of his aides from the start .... That is what I believe ...

How do i know?
How can i be so sure...

Because it was obviously recorded by a cell phone and i can guarantee that within 12 hours of release, if it was not a planned release, everybody's cell phone would have been collected, analyzed and the audio stream would have been identified and time/dated

I have recovered data off people cells even after two resets...unless they are digitally formatted the data is still there. And, mysteriously loosing or formatting you phone would be an arrow right to you....no....this was a calculated release.

how does this NOT come back to bite them in the ass?

The only thing I can think to make sense of what you're suggesting is that Psy-Ops requires a higher than minimum bar of functioning intelligence to be effective, and maybe Yertle's Crack Team forgot that part...

I'm just curious how leaking it without false "proof" that the office was bugged helps them...

They believe in their own reality...they think they can claim anything they want and it will never come back to bite them because if they didn't think it through the phone will mysteriously have never exited and the fbi will find nothing. Then they get to claim again to the news....poor me we are being attacked and even the fbi cant protect us....we need more republicans to keep us safe...

I put nothing beyond their pale...they truly believe that they create their own reality.

There's no justification for collecting the phones.
