Progressives/Liberals/Democrats EVERYWHERE! Lend me your ears!

I have been looking through many of the Progressive/Liberal/Democratic sites recently. I have also been looking through many of the Conservative/Teabag/Republican sites. What I have been seeing disturbs me.

The Conservative/Teabag/Republicans are doing far more to get the ears of the elected officials. They are also happy that we, as a whole, are not. They are the ones that are calling the Representatives and Senators, and the President in mass. Those that have and do call on our side are in the minority.

And those on the other side does not just call their officials of the same party, they call them all, a lot.

What also is disturbing is the number on many of the different sites that are upset about what is going on, yet seems ready to tell everyone that nothing can be done. They tell people all they can do is vote and that is it. These types seem to be out to just break up the party so nothing can get done.

So many have forgotten that Democracy, Freedom, Justus is something that must be worked on 24/7. That it does not, must not stop at the ballot box. Many have also been discouraged by those that seem to have forgotten. So many that was all for President Obama have forgotten that they must show backing even after the election, to call and e-mail to let him know what we think and want. To give him the numbers he needs to show the other side and not have to give an inch because we give him use of our power (every call, every e-mail is recorded and counted, a lot like a vote). And many seem to look at their Representatives and Senators and do not contact them. Why? They are not the same party as they are.

The reason you contact them on issues is to vote for or against issues. They have got to hear us after the election as much as on Election Day.

A good example of this is with the controversy with Social Security. Before this got to this point, how many calls do you think went to the Presidential switchboard about “curbing all these entitlements”? With the movements I have seem advertised to get people to do just that, I say quite a bit. And how many do you think went to Representatives and Senators due to those same ads?

Since this country is ran by majority rule. It is the largest number that wins. Now, when the other side, even if they have lost the election a year ago, mobilizes to move in mass they are the majority of the voices. That is due; sadly, to far too many on our side do not help to keep out the pressure after the elections. Too many do not understand it is a 24/7 numbers fight. And due to that, those that are fighting 24/7 do not have the backing in the numbers as the other side does.

Many have also forgotten they must tell their state (including the Governor’s Office), county and city (including the Mayor’s Office) officials where they stand as well. Why contact them? The city council will talk to the county guys about the pressure they are felling. The county guys, also seeing this on their end, will talk to the state reps. The state reps. Will talk to the Federal reps. , who will see the numbers of call they have/ are receiving.

And that is what the other side is doing. That is how, in large numbers, they are getting listened to.

There are other things we, as a whole, can do to help get those numbers up. Get your family and friends to call. Then get them to get their friends and family to call. You can also do something that was done for me.

I was in college at the time and I was talking about the war that Bush was looking at stating at that time with Iraq. That is when a guy who overheard the conversation came up and said he was mad too and had spent a lot of time calling the state representative as well as the Federal. The way he stated it got me to say, and I will never forget, “How can you? They seem not to want that info out.” He then handed me a note card with a bunch of names and numbers for getting a hold of my Representatives on it, as well as the number to call the White House.

I was given a way to be heard. And I did use it, on many occasions. We can do the same as the, I found out later, Vice President of the College Democrats did for me. It was just a simple note card with the info. We all can make up a dozen or so and when we hear someone say that they want to call about something that we are trying get backing on, hand one to them.

Also joining/organizing meet-ups to help bolster many that have been worn down by those that can only see/speak/write nothing but bad. To help get that old fire that we had for the election back up. The other side may have lost the White House, lost the senate, but they are still stocked and are using it to keep their voices heard. Even the use of peaceful Civil Disobedience can help to get the word out.

We have the numbers; we need to get them in the fight again!

I cannot stress it enough, on how we must call the President and place our voice. He needs numbers to show the other side numbers. The other side must be plagued by our numbers, by the number of calls and e-mails. Right now, the voices that are being heard and recorded are the ones we do not want to be heard.

So let us spread the word, get together, and use the power of “We the People” to help those we place in government as well as let those we did not vote for (but they do have to listen to the masses anyway) what WE want, that we have many that think like us in the population, and we are the bosses.

be ABANDONED by their base, something that Democrats have NO assurance of. They don't know from one day to the next how much of their base is going to indulge in a freak-out and swear by all that is holy that they'll never back them again.

Look at what is going on on this board to see that this is true. I have seen numerous such cycles here. I guess people think the way to get things done politically is to threaten to not vote and not volunteer and not donate. Those threats have the OPPOSITE effect that their cheerleaders claim they do. Those threats DESTROY and DEFEAT YOUR ISSUE, because politicians can do nothing for those who are not there for them. Nothing.

Phone calling is the way that Republicans let their leaders know that they will not quit them. They have party solidarity. We don't and one of the reasons we don't is because "Democrats" refuse to acknowledge that they are part of what IS driving their party to the RIGHT by threatening ALL issues over a single issue and promising publicly not to vote or support party efforts. Those kinds of actions don't persuade any leaders to change their minds, they only drive them further to the right, because there's no need to do anything for those who have abandoned you, or will soon at the next opportunity, anyway.

Online Directory for the 113th Congress

http://www.contactingthecongress.org/

It supplies names, phone numbers in Washington, D.C., fax numbers and how to contact them.

Note the search choices on the page, where you can click for information on Committees, Leadership, Schedules and Other Branches.

Those who want to contact their representatives can also find how to contact with their district offices.

Be aware that their software may or may not reject your contact if you are not a resident of their district, as they are elected to represent the thousands or millions within their states, not the entire country.

So many Americans have forgotten that we run this country. It is up to all Americans to tell them what we want and stay on top of them to make sure they do it. To do so you must reach your employees and tell them what you want.

These sites help you to start to find names, offices, email, fax machines, phones, Facebook pages, twitter, and official contact sites.

Find your representatives at:

Find your senators at:

We either believe we can effect this or we give it all to the Koch brothers. Their Tea Party has is well-funded and will be calling in to argue against our interest.

We love our friends and families and must make our voices heard, as has been done with the two million strong petition delivered today.

Excellent Advice. I know most of the Dems are working hard at keeping back the recons policies of annihilation. If we get a Dem Congress in 2014 we can do great things.

None of this defeatist attitude for me. I think things will be Hopping in Politics 2013 & 2014 when the time comes. Right now we're working on getting Ed Markey Elected Senator from Mass. Hopefully he wins to primary on June 25, 2013. It's who I want anyway.. we'll see what the People of Mass want.

Markey only Senate hopeful on the side of women's health

Peter Lucas was right to identify the Affordable Care Act as a key issue that distinguishes the candidates for U.S. Senate. ("Markey only candidate to back Obamacare," April 2) Indeed, four of the five candidates are on the wrong side of women's health.

The Affordable Care Act is the single biggest advancement in women's health in a generation, providing access to preventive care, including pap tests, breast exams and birth control, with no co-pay. Opposing "Obamacare" means these candidates are turning their backs on the 47 million women who benefit from health-care reform, including 1.2 million women living in Massachusetts.

The no-co-pay birth-control provision alone saves women an average of $600 per year on health-care costs, and makes a full range of birth-control options available to more women. Improved access to contraception means better health and economic outcomes for women and fewer unintended pregnancies. When women can access high-quality, affordable preventive care, including birth control, we all benefit.

MARTY WALZ

I for one and all my friends want Markey, thanks for your support of him, as you did with our senior Senator from MA. Elizabeth Warren.

The networking is great for these races. The support from outside MA. is amazing.

Thanks Cha!

Which translates into being on the side of.. Women!

I see your point. If you have 60 liberal progressives and 40 conservatives, that's a 3-to-2 ratio of liberal support. But if 20 of the conservatives are calling my office compared to only 10 of the liberal progressives, then I will conclude that 2 out of 3 people support conservative policies -- even though that's nowhere near the ratio of reality.

I think the reason so many are being quiet as of late is how busy their lives are. So many have multiple jobs and families and the constant worry of bills and life in general.

Yes, keeping evolved is an addition to what they already have. But if they don't, they will lose all they are working for.
