*ahem*

Look, it's time to end this ridiculous charade. The White House is proposing what's in the White House budget because that's what the White House wants. They'll fight just as hard to cut Social Security as they will for any of its other provisions. And that's because the White House, let's face facts, just isn't on the side of the American people. They need to come out and speak with conviction: They don't give a shit about Social Security or anybody who is on it because they want a balanced budget with low taxes. That's the only explanation for passing another $3.4 trillion round of Bush Tax Cuts while cutting Social Security.

Maybe instead of quarreling over whether Obama is a schmuck or not, we could get Hillary Clinton on the record as supporting or opposing chained CPI? (A cursory Google did not reveal clarity to me on her position.)

So I hope everyone wants what is best for grandparents, and all guns/bullets are eradicated from the hands of private citizens nationwide.

Toy Story 3 is a good metaphor for Parents and Grandparents who lost children to a gun

the actual (but one that puts down the meme of the haters) reason 2010 election turned out that way.

After all, it does take a village to remind people to make sure 2000 doesn't stop the forward progress again

Russia found out what happens when people who quickly win a revolution (Gorby tearing down the USSR) wanting too much too soon the getting rid of Gorby and as such, enabling the old style Putin back in

Much like the Bush's keep weaseling in

At least you have honestly laid out your thinking on the matter. Thanks. Now we all will know where you are coming from. I will bookmark this thread and refer people to it if necessary, when you are spouting your densely (un)reasoned non sequitur responses to anything remotely critical of President Obama.

You mean the one where we voted for a guy who said his health care proposal would include a robust public option, only to deal it away behind the scenes when push came to shove? The guy who then put Simpson and Bowles in charge of his Deficit Commission, and they suggested cuts to Social Security, which technically has nothing to do with the deficit (except for the fact that TPTB borrowed the money to pay for tax cuts for the rich, and two off-the-books wars, that they now do not wish to pay back)? Or do you mean the one 4 years later where we voted for a guy who said he would never cut Social Security, only to come out with a proposal that includes Chained CPI?

Come on.

doing another thing when elected? She is no progressive or liberal, she is just as beholden, and happily so, to Wall Street and third way Democrats as Obama is. The country is more important than genitalia or race, to me, so the gender card that some play is pointless. Look at Thatcher's "legacy" - no penis, first prime minister without a penis (I think), but left so much hatred that there are actual block parties celebrating her passing.

I suppose. But it seems important to get her -- and Biden, and anyone else considering contending for the nomination in '16 -- on the record. I'm guessing that will be a question that gets ducked as long as possible for the two presumptive front-runners.

It's difficult to see any progressive coming out of nowhere to upset either of them for the nom. So what else can we do but hold their feet to the fire?

But I am grateful for whoever put the Fourteenth Amendment together since it's an affirmative defense against inequality.

And, yes, it's an uphill battle sometimes to bring attention to inequality issues in a man's world. The reality is, that no one cares until there's a crowd outside angry and protesting.

I don't see a comment from her as changing anything re chained CPI

I don't see the political advantage for her in saying something that either puts her in a position sharing unpopularity with Obama, or pissing off the Obama camp and making it difficult for him to bless her potential rerun for the presidency

To have a budget and continue the government.

If you have such a problem with this chained CPI (which is only a method for calculating inflation), propose something else. Something Boner would agree to cut. Or find out if Hillary has different ideas. The idea of having a different President is useless if the Congress does the same thing.
