Senator Bernie Sanders delivers 2 million of your petition signatures to the White House
The president is set to include a major Social Security benefit cut in his budget on Wednesday. President Obama is proposing the so-called chained CPI, which would cut cost-of-living adjustments for all current and future Social Security benefiaries.
Over two million people took action, and today, live at 12:30PM EDT, Senator Bernie Sanders is going to deliver YOUR Petitions directly to the White House telling Obama: No cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits.
Over the last few years Wall Street has thrown every commission, gang, sequester and supercommitee they could come up with at our earned benefits. Each time, you have risen to the occasion.
Now we're bringing the fight to the White House. Watch it live!
Thank you.

(9,298 posts)Totally agree with you, but I'd even settle for a super majority so we could get some things done in this country that need doin'!

(10,270 posts)as in, (and this is a question I guess for the Mods) if Bernie ever had to face a DEMOCRATIC Party nominee in his home state, would the Site Admins be all twitchy about who was getting our "support" on this board? Yes, Sen. Sanders sits with the Democratic Caucus, but he IS a registered Independant. My guess would be, just based on semantics, this is DEMOCRATIC Underground, not Liberal Underground...
I'm not trying to start a fight, I am just curious now as to how that would all break down.
If it's been adressed, please point me to the relavant thread.

(19,326 posts)Got an email notification this morning that Bernie was going
to "deliver" it today. You gotta love Bernie. Sad thought
that it takes an Independent anymore to carry Democratic
water.

(7,549 posts)They did a good thing. I am wondering what the response was if anything from the White House staff when they actually received the petitions.

(145 posts)I just checked the AARP site and had to really dig for an article on the chained CPI. It should have been the banner headline! No wonder many folks have not heard of this.

To Third Way types, this sort of liberal outrage is a badge of honor. It's their Serious Person credential.

(296 posts)It's a horrible shame that more people in congress weren't just like him. He's one of the rare few who genuinely seems to care and it's not just a ruse that he puts on right before the election.

(9,298 posts)many, many of us signed those petitions - how gratifying it must be to Bernie! But now we must thank him. He's not a young man, but is one of the hardest-working, most passionate elected representatives I've ever seen.

(12,606 posts)wasn't going to introduce a chained CPI? Perhaps I have to go back to find those posts and see if I can make sense of it?
