Ok, it seems Obama really has jumped the shark, and that the choices for 2016 are Hillary and whoever gets run over by Hillary.
I will not lie, it does not feel good to be a Democrat right now. However, now is a matter of looking at options.
What does not work:
1) Third party protest vote for president. Yes, I get yelled at here by people saying "it's wasnt Nader!" or "Gore coulda won if he was better." To those who mean well, and to those full of arrogant malice, I say this. I am in swing state Florida. If I was in New Jersey, I could laugh as I know that NJ will never, ever be a red state, no matter how much Christie tries. However, none of the yellign done will ever erase the gloating and the news reports of how the GOP got people to vote Nader. If Nader vowed to not take one red cent from the GOP, I could believe him, but when he did and got arrogant about it, I wrote him off. Bottom line is, unlike what is true for many, I cannot pretend my vote does not count, because in 2000 it came down to less than 100 votes, in the fourth biggest state in the Union. Hell, that's not even a concert for a B list rock band past their prime; some movie theaters have more than that.
2) the same as before...Obviously, the Democrats are making sure Clinton is the standard, which is no standard at all. Ultra Liberal Ashley Judd got shanked out of the Elections when Bill Clinton stumped for her blue dog opponent. If even Barack Hussein Obama can be a Blue Dog, then we are in trouble.
So, what does...
The only hope I see is to use Citizen's united against the enemy. Remember, Walmart, Citibank, all the big names are still nothing without our pennies. We can form superpacs also, and use them to manipulate polticians, like the big boys do. If the powers that be do not wait until the election cycle to put their fix in, why the hell should we? If polticians want to be just another product, then let's buy, and stop with our faith in "leaders" that will somehow win the fight that should start, and end, with us.
Find your community radio. Note I did not say PBS, I mean the coimmunity radio stations that get less funding, that are non prfits run by people. My own tampa has WMNF, New York, WFMU, and there are others, which are often the one place you hear news. If not that, form a podcast, and organize, link to your fellows, show that we are not a scattered lot, but a MASS.
Also, one of he problem we had is that OWS stayed unorganized, and unspoorted because they had no specif goals. People failed to realize that, just by keepingfocus on the discontent, OWS did a lot. Notice this latest SS bullshit was not tried until OWS was weakened. Sadly, too many self-described leftists also took potshots at OWS, I still remember Ted Rall being angry that they did not kill people.
So, the solution, reveive ows, but combine it with wily, sneaky buying of the superpacs...where we do not rely on any powers to save us, because we cannot.

(2,770 posts)The 'weakening' of OWS was what opened the window of opportunity to threaten the SS system (despite the fact that it is not under threat anyway - but that's another story.)
OWs came out of the gate "weak" - and it never gained any strength to speak of. To say it was disorganized is the under-statement of the century.
But by all means, let's pretend that the weakening of an already going-nowhere-fast "organization" is relevant here. Which it is not.

(13,616 posts)The truth is, OWS still has potentiasl, if nothing else, to give the news media something they cannot dilute or dispute to death. The idea of keeping discontent front and center is, in and of itself, necessary.
