My wife worries that Chain CPI is basically bring back Reaganomics

My wife has been reading a lot about the chain CPI being proposed by Obama. She is shocked and amazed that any person claiming to be Democrat would actually propose such an idea.

She has read how her mother who even with her school pension (she was a secretary) and her SS income this poor woman still has trouble making ends meet. my wife fears for her mother if this chain CPI goes into effect--I worry that if things get worse we will have to all live under one roof.

Her mother was a single woman of 2 girls. This woman worked as a school secretary during the 80s and 90s. her average yearly salary was 20,000 and she raised her kids (ex husband wasn't much help...got away with only giving $75 per daughter each month in child support) she couldn't get food stamps or any assistance because she made $1000 too much.

both of us have read if Chain CPI goes into effect if will also not only effect social security incomes but assistance for low income people.

She has been trying to figure out if this is a back door back into Reaganonmic

has the CPI in it's formula for payments. Every program will pay less.
In a time when the middle class is going to extinction we should not be messing with the safety net.
