(8,462 posts)He's only proposing it because the Republicans will never go for it. It's just a political N-dimensional chess move to make him look "serious".
but...
Aren't there lots of OTHER things he could do that would make him look serious (and not like a Republican, Chained CPI is a REPUBLICAN idea, after all) that the Republicans likewise wouldn't go for?
What if they DO go for it? If it gets "democratic" support AND Republican support, might it just pass??
He's a TERRIBLE negotiator.
