A Memo To Republicans

Research shows that deliberately counting blessings or keeping "gratitude lists" has a host of mental health benefits, and cultivating a habit of gratitude reduces negative affect like resentment, irritability, stress, and depression.

Instead of counting your blessings, you bitch and complain that we are spending too much (based on your constant viewing of Cluster Faux, and what other people tell you. Then you say we need to cut taxes, but you always seem to forget you drive on the same federally paved highways as I do. This makes you hypocrites. You also live in the same community as I do. When you will ever shut up?

But as I read it, I had a vision of America being like a poor family with a Rolls Royce in the garage. They can't eat well for lack of money. They fight trying to get each get their way to spend what little money they do have. Yet they never address that Rolls Royce in the garage. If they could only see clearly how continuing to keep that car is like a leash around their necks.

You know where I'm going with this. America has it's Rolls. A half a trillion dollar a year Rolls. We don't have a big problem in America. We're just making it big.

We do have the money to pay for the important and productive things here. And I am grateful. That's an important realization.

The story mentioned in the article is a really good movie. It's called I Remember Mama.

I keep thinking about how we (Republicans mostly, but Democrats who support huge military spending) are making our own life in this country miserable, by choice. By choice we decided that we could not have proper health care, despite the fact that the technology is siting before us.
