There are internet trolls on both local and national news sites claiming the spill has been blown out of proportion and that the area has been cleaned up. That is far from the truth. The area is a mess. Exxon is being very secretive. Tensions are still running very high. Please keep spreading the word.
These are from the Mayflower Arkansas Oil Spill Facebook page. This is what a "cleaned up" neighborhood looks like a week later. The first photo is where oil can be seen gushing into the street in the early video of the spill that was taken by a resident as he drove away.

(14,971 posts)If the spill isn't as bad as people say, why is Exxon doing everything they can to keep reporters away? They're probably paid internet trolls.

Any industry that is so complacent to allow this to happen deserves no benefit of the doubt.

(14,350 posts)We had tons of contract workers come in to help clean up the spill into the Kalamazoo River. I'm sure those people are on their way to Mayflower now.
Alpaca hair. They need tons of it--helps absorb oil in those orange buffer things.

(51,502 posts)I would make Exxon buy me out. It is insane to live in that toxic environment, even after you can't see the oil anymore. It will still be there, soaked into the ground. Killing you.

(579 posts)many of the residents in this neighborhood are Republicans. They seem to think that Libs/Progs are not exercising good judgement because we are not in favor of the pipeline! Maybe this will change a few minds.
