Quit being in the 'Center' when it comes to SS

Asking for nothing more than what you already have is not a strong negotiating position.

The republicans have brought SS to the table.

You do not back down from republicans and win. The way you beat the republicans is to make them look like the fools they are.

So what stance do you take to beat them down?

You tell them that SS is Honoring our Mothers and Fathers.

Ever hear of that? Honor your Mothers and your Fathers.

Our stance has to be that we want a bigger and a better Social Security System. That we want to do the best we can to Honor our elders. Not only because it is they who built this great country, but our morals demand that we do the best we can do for our families.

As a trade off we will negotiate a move of our money away from bombs, missiles and other attack aircraft. Yes, we will trade all that in order to Honor our Elders, and keep them safe and secure.

A bigger better Social Security System, or a bigger more wasteful defense department. Can't have both, the republicans claim, so let them choose.

We all pay or have paid over a lifetime into SS for the time when we are more vulnerable in many directions. This was a investment plan of sorts and we did our part . Now it is payback time and it is morally wrong for our leaders to even consider messing with this long term program and causing members and their families undo stress over possible loss of benefits or amounts . Not the right or fair thing to do !

The SS program is freestanding and self supporting if Congress left it alone . They have borrowed from it twice I believe and never repaid it plus interest . Now their is talk of changing it because it may be short of funds i the future or because Bush and Cheney cut taxes for the rich after inheriting a fiscal surplus from Clinton , started a couple of no win type wars on lies for many reasons, placed this country in debt up to it's ears, and then Obama gets the blame when he can't undo 8 years of bad management in a few years, all the while , the GOP gang swore to sabotage any thing he tried to pass or do and limit him to one term .

Now Obama being a nice guy , maybe too nice, is turning to many cheeks with these bullies and self interested vultures who serve their big money sponsors .

No bully ever was stopped by making more concessions in my 72 years of life experiences. Bullies rule with fear and coercion . To stop them , one must draw a line in the sand and if they cross it, hit them hard and keep hitting them until they turn and run . They will run!

Obama is a terrible wheeler dealer and starts off giving instead of demanding more .

Leave our SS and Medicare alone . So many other real areas to save money that are actually part of the Fed budget that is keeping the media so obsessed and the greedy pimps that created it are worried .

I have signed several petitions on this today, wish you all would . telling Obama "No way !!!" . Quit giving things away, fight to get things back and better for the people .

and then reneging on our promise to take care of them when they come home injured in some way.

Unfortunately, we don't seem to have a lot of shame about that either.

K&R

Honor thy father and thy mother. And the fathers and mothers of others.

And for good measure: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

to as a Democrat. He believes his advisers. He said so when he announced he was planning to support lifting the ban on offshore drilling. He stated that all those Democrats before him who had managed to keep it in place, simply weren't up to date on the new technology that made oil rigs safe. He claimed his advisers, no doubt way smarter than all those Democrats, had assured him of this. He made no apologies to the people who had elected him.

18 days later he was proven to be tragically wrong when one of those 'safe rigs' blew up and killed eleven men. So I guess his 'expert' advisers were terribly wrong.

So, this president ignored the democrats and experts who wisely fought to keep the ban on offshore drilling in place, in fact he insulted them by implying they were not up to date on this issue as his 'experts' were, and then was proven to be horribly wrong.

Re SS, it is the same thing. His advisers are known opponents of SS. He nominated anti-SS members to his deficit commission. He refused to fire Alan Simpson despite demands he do so after his hateful remarks about seniors and veterans collecting the benefits they earned. Iow, the voices of so many people, people who voted for him, were ignored in order to keep that Republican on that Commission.

We will just have to get over it and move forward, far wiser than we were but with a lot of harm done that we will have to work hard to repair.

The President is the kind of guy who thinks liberals like Krugman and Reich are impractical men who don't have what it takes to get things done in the real world. Corporate CEO's, on the other hand, are deserving of a degree of respect because of the many things they have been able to accomplish. They are highly intelligent men and women, otherwise they would not have risen to such positions of power and wealth. They may not always be right according to President Obama, but in his mind they have earned his ear.

Now, from my point of view, there is so much wrong with that way of thinking I don't even know where to start. But I do believe that is how our President views the world. All his appointments and most of his policy choices reflect that type of thinking.

Doing the right thing is something that the Reeps have forgotten how to do.

They need to be reminded every dammed day.
